The types of Standard Envelope Sizes.
There are many types of standard envelope sizes available. Each of the standard envelope sizes has their own importance. The two basic standard envelope sizes we will be discussing are the US standard envelope sizes and the ISO standard envelope sizes. The ISO standard envelope sizes are mostly used all over Europe and basically over the world whereas the US standard sizes are applied only in US.

US standard envelope sizes have been classified in to several groups according to their application, as mentioned below:
Commercial standard envelope sizes:
These standard envelope sizes are used mainly for business correspondence that are sent and received daily. They are often seen having a commercial flap on them. They are used most commonly for invoices, writing stationary, statements, letterheads, checks and direct marketing mails. Some of the commercial standard envelope sizes most commonly found are 3 7/8" x 8 7/8", 5 inch x 11 ½", 35/8" x 6 ½", 3 1/2" x 6",3 5/8" x 6 1/2"and 4 1/2" x 10 3/8".
Announcement standard envelope sizes:
These are the most common envelopes used for invitations, brochures, promotional pieces, cards, announcements and brochures. Announcement standard envelope sizes are 4 3/8" x 5 3/4",4 3/4" x 6 1/2", 5 1/4" x 7 1/4" and 5 1/2" x 8 1/8".
Baronial standard envelope sizes:
These envelopes are used for very formal invitations. The standard envelope sizes of Baronial envelopes are 3 3/16" x 4 1/4", 3 5/8" x 4 5/, 4 1/8" x 5 1/8", 4 1/4" x 5 1/4".
Booklet standard envelope sizes:
Booklets are mainly used for marketing purposes like sending corporate profiles and folders to the potential customers. The standard envelope sizes of booklets are 5 3/4" x 8 7/8", 6" x 9", 7 1/2" x 10 ½, 8 3/4" x 11 1/2" and 9" x 12".
Catalog standard envelope sizes:
Catalog enveloped are mainly used to send reports, catalogs and magazines. The standard envelope sizes for this category are 6 1/2" x 10", 7" x 10" and 7 1/2" x 10 1/2".
ISO Envelope Standards
ISO standard envelope sizes are used all around the world. The C series was specifically designed to cater to the need of ISO A paper sizes. The B series was made to be used as an alternative and is not that commonly used. Overall, there are 3 series of the standard envelope sizes C, B and D and they have various sizes. The standard envelope sizes of these series are also commonly known as A3 sheet, A4 sheet, A5 sheet, C5 envelopes and C4 envelopes.
